Manifestación de solidaridad en La Haya con los pueblos indígenas de la
amazonía del Perú

Esta mañana, el grupo Tierra y Libertad organizó una marcha en la Haya en
solidaridad con las docenas de victimas de la represión policial en ela
Amazonia peruana. La marcha, a la que acudieron alrededor de 50 personas,
comenzó en el Instituto de las Ciencias Sociales (ISS) y se encaminó a la
embajada peruana en la Haya.

Una improvisada marcha fúnebre, detectada por la policía holandesa desde
el primer momento, consiguió finalmente llegar a la sede de la embajada..
En recuerdo a las víctimas se portaron diversos ataúdes. También la
procesión estuvo acompañada por el grupo de percusión Rithms or Resistance
y el legendario sonido de una trutruca, instrumento mapuche del sur de
Chile.

A aproximadamente 500 metros de la embajada, la policía detuvo el paso de
la demostración. Tras media hora de espera los agentes nos dejaron
finalizar el acto, no sin antes multarnos, ya que tal marcha funeraria
pudiera constituir una amenaza para la seguridad del país. Momentos de
confusión y de espera, por falta de permisos, que finalmente terminaron en
un funeral simbólico repleto de cruces, rosas y fotografías de las
víctimas.

Posteriormente al llegar a la sede de la embajada peruana, algunos de los
asistentes leyeron las reivindicaciones que los movimientos sociales
peruanos exigen; entre ellas se pidió al gobierno peruano el cese
inmediato de la violencia estatal contra los pueblos indígenas de la
amazonia y el fin de la criminalización de sus protestas. También se pidió
justicia para los culpables de la masacre.

Al mismo tiempo, se recordó la ratificación por parte de Perú de los
tratados internacionales referidos a la libre determinación de los
pueblos, como el Convenio 169 (OIT) y la Declaración de las Naciones
Unidas sobre los Derechos de los Pueblos Indígenas. Finalmente, se pidió
el rechazo al TLC con Estados Unidos firmado por el gobierno de Perú, que
subordina los intereses de los pueblos indígenas a los intereses de las
grandes empresas multinacionales. El acto terminó con un minuto de
silencio como recuerdo y homenaje.

Vandaag organiseerde de actiegroep Tierra y Libertad een actie in Den Haag
in solidariteit met de slachtoffers van de repressie van de inheemse
opstand in Peru.
Omstreeks 12.30 liepen meer dan 50 mensen van het Institute of Social
Studies in Den Haag naar de Peruaanse ambassade. Hierbij bootste we een
begrafenisstoet na, waarbij we een aantal doodskisten meedroegen, symbool
voor de vele doden die zijn gevallen. De stoet werd begeleid door een
dodenmars gespeeld door Rithms of Resistance en het indringende
trompetgeschal van de trutruca, traditioneel instrument van de inheemse
groep Mapuche uit het zuiden van Chile.
Op ongeveer 500 meter voor de Peruaanse ambassade werden we tegengehouden
door de politie, die ons verbood verder te gaan met onze demo. Na een half
uur te zijn ingesloten door agenten mochten we toch nog onze mars afmaken.
We kregen natuurlijk wel een proces verbaal want een begravingstoet is een
flinke bedreiging voor ‘s lands veiligheid.
Aangekomen bij de ambassade hebben we onze solidariteitsverklaring
voorgelezen (zie onderaan) en deze aangeboden aan een vertegenwoordiger
van de ambassade. Deze was niet bereid commentaar te geven op onze punten,
noch op wat er is voorgevallen in de Peruaanse Amazone.
Vervolgens hebben we de doden symbolisch begraven voor de deur van de
ambassade waarbij we witte kruisen, rozen en foto’s van de slachtoffers op
de kisten legden en een minuut stilte hielden. We sloten de mars af met
het hardop noemen van de eisen van Peru’s sociale bewegingen: een
onmiddellijke stop van de bloedige repressie en criminalisering van de
demonstranten en de eis om berechting van de schuldigen van deze misdaden
tegen de menselijkheid. Ook eisten we het respect voor het recht van
inheemse bevolkingsgroepen op inspraak in hun woon en leefgebied zoals
vastgelegd in verschillende, door Peru ondertekende, internationale
verdragen zoals ILO verklaring 169 en de Verklaring van Inheemse Volkeren
van de Verenigde Naties. We spraken ons daarbij uit tegen het
Vrijhandelsverdrag getekend tussen Peru en de VS die het belang van
multinationale ondernemingen stellen boven die van de oorspronkelijke
bewoners van de Peruaanse Amazone.

Rechten van inheemse bevolkingsgroepen boven die van multinationals!
Internationale solidariteit met de eisen van inheemse bevolkingsgroepen

Dear Mr. Allan Wagner Tizón, Ambassador of Peru in The Netherlands,

To the Peruvian Consulate and Embassy in The Netherlands:

The following Dutch organizations in solidarity with Latin America, want
to express our deep concern with the slaughter of Indigenous people on the
morning of Friday 5 June in Bagua, area of Corral Quemado and Curva del
Diablo in the Peruvian Amazon. We are outraged with the dozens of dead and
wounded people on both sides, mainly members of the Indigenous People
Awajun.

WE DEMAND AN INMEDIATE HALT TO THE STATE VIOLENCE BEING WAGED AGAINST
INDIGENOUS PEOPLES IN THE PERUVIAN AMAZON AND INSIST THAT THEIR RIGHTS BE
RESPECTED.

We demand, in solidarity with organizations in Peru:
- The respect of and compliance to the Convention 169 (ILO) and the United
Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples signed by Peru,
that includes the self-determination of indigenous peoples. Our indigenous
brothers and sisters have the right to determine their political condition
and to decide on how natural resources (including the subsoil) should be
allocated for their economic, social and cultural development. The
consultation of indigenous people by the Peruvian government is, in this
case, not only a courtesy, but an obligation to uphold the right to free,
prior and informed consent of Indigenous Peoples.
- To denounce and cancel the Free Trade Agreement with the USA. It is
through this agreement that the APRA government intends to impose a model
of plundering and irresponsible consumption of our resources that
undermines the national interests in favour of a corrupt business sector
that has a record of environmental damage, plundering and exploitation of
native people, and played a part in bringing about global warming and the
world economic crisis.
- The immediate abolition of all unconstitutional Law decrees.
- The lifting of the State of Emergency in the Peruvian Amazon.
- An immediate end to the persecution of social leaders, the
criminalization of social protest and the criminal charges against Alberto
Pizango (the main leader of AIDESEP) for conspiracy, rebellion and
sedition.
- AN INMEDIATE HALT TO THE STATE VIOLENCE BEING WAGED AGAINST INDIGENOUS
PEOPLES IN THE PERUVIAN AMAZON AND RESPECT FOR THEIR RIGHTS.
- Prosecution of those responsible for the massacre.

We demand that your Embassy pass this denunciation on to the Peruvian
government and with the declaration that you are against the above
mentioned violations of human rights.
